Alfred

Alfred

Alfred: Basically, Brent, my life is real simple. This is my life, right here. I’ve been living out here for 7 years. I went to prison for selling drugs in ‘97. I thought I was gonna come back and everything would be all merry.

BW: Have you been able to find work since you’ve been out?

Alfred: No one wants to give a convicted felon a chance.  Everybody’s hollering for government assistance. I don’t need the government. I got two feets and two hands. I’m capable of doing what I got to do to survive. I live from trashcan to trashcan. Most of it I sell to make me a few bucks. Get me something to eat.

BW: Are you happy?

Alfred: I’m happy. This is an adventure for me. I have family in Lagrange and I’ve stayed with all of them. It just don’t work, especially when someone tells you what time you gotta be in the house. *laughs*

This is my life and I love it. I don’t allow anyone to just come down here due to the fact that I like my space. This is my castle and I am the king of my castle.
