Beverly: I got saved because I couldn’t find an answer to my son’s drug habit. I was 35 years old.
BW: How old was your son when he was having drug problems?
Beverly: He was about 14 or 15 then.
BW: Did he get straightened out?
Beverly: He did get straightened out and went in the military but, he ended up getting back on drugs and committing suicide at 35. But that ended up being good too.
BW: How was your son’s death a good thing?
Beverly: Oh, because he was saved so, he went to heaven. His journey is over. I just celebrate his home going, not my poor self pity here.
I just knew I wasn’t gonna get stuck. I’ve seen too many people that, when things happen to them in life, they get stuck and they can’t go on. Well, that’s selfish to me. Always thinking about self, self, self. This whole life is about bringing people to the Lord.
BW: Why do you think God requires you to bring people to him?
Beverly: Cause I think that’s why Jesus came. For salvation, and a lot of other things.
BW: Huh… well, what was your son’s name?
Beverly: Robbie. In fact, today was his birthday. He would have been 55.
