Guy: I was about 18 and I was going to a Baptist church. it just wasn’t what I thought it would be. My friends wanted me to go this old time church where they run and shouted and all that good stuff. I said, “Wait a minute. I don’t know about all that. I’ll tell you what I’ll do. I’ll go, if I can sit on the back bench, by the door, so if I want to get out, I can get out.”
Well, by the time we got to church there weren’t any seats left so the preacher brought me a chair to sit in, right by the backdoor.
The pastor called on the children to come up to the front and sing. There was a girl who brought them all up to the alter. They were singing and all and a light come down through that ceiling and shined all over her. The Lord spoke to me and said, “this is the one I have for you” and we’re still married today.
BW: So, you’ve been together since then?
Guy: Well… it took a while.
BW: *Laughing* She didn’t get the message from God?
Guy: *Laughing* No, no, she didn’t see the light for a while. But, coming up in a couple of weeks we’ll celebrate 35 years of marriage.
