Nick owns a consignment shop and lives in the room above it. He speaks with a thick Greek accent.
BW: Damn, is this scale right?
Nick: Yeah, it’s right. I’ll show you. I weigh 149. See? I used to weigh a lot more before my surgery. I lost 26 pounds in one night. I had to change the carpet, I bled so much. I cried for 6 hours up in that room. The pain was horrible. I busted a window and yelled “help, help, help!” and nobody came. I couldn’t reach the phone because it was under the bed. I thought I was dead.
My friend came here to bring me some coffee. He couldn’t get in and he knew something was wrong so he called 911. I tried to walk down the steps and I busted my head on the god damn cement blocks. The people finally came in the door and I’m laying on the floor, face down, butt naked. The paramedics thought I’d been shot.
Turned out it was a hernia. I never had that kinda pain in my life. I woke up 4 days later in the hospital. I was in there for 22 days. I can’t believe I’m alive.
Now, I’m stronger than I was before! I swear to god! Now, I live life!
